Privacy policy
What FAVORY keeps, why, and what you can do about it.
FAVORY is a place to save links, notes and files. This policy covers the website at favory.click, the web app and the FAVORY browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox. Questions: privacy@favory.click.
In short
- We keep what you save, so we can show it back to you. Nothing else is its purpose.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics. We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not use it to train AI models.
- You can export everything, and deleting your account deletes your data.
What we keep
- Your account: your email address and name, or nothing at all for a guest account. If you sign in with Google, we get your name, email address and profile picture from Google.
- What you save: links with their title, description and image, reader copies of pages, notes, highlights, tags, folders, collections, uploaded files and the text found in them, feeds you follow, tab sessions and your settings.
- Sign-in sessions: to keep you signed in, a session cookie; with each session, the IP address and browser it was started from, until the session ends.
- Small preferences in your browser: the language and the light or dark theme.
The browser extension
The extension sends FAVORY only what you ask it to save or sync:
- the address and title of a page, tab or link you save;
- the tabs of a session you save, and the bookmarks in the folders you choose to sync;
- browser bookmarks you choose to import.
It reads a page only when you open the extension on it (the activeTab permission). It asks for the tabs, bookmarks and history permissions only when you turn on a feature that needs them, and you can give them back. The automatic snapshots of your open windows stay in your browser: they reach FAVORY only when you save one. Your browsing history stays there too; if you turn on the history features, the addresses of pages you visit often are sent to FAVORY only to check whether you saved them, and are not kept. The extension has no ads, trackers or analytics.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare hosts FAVORY and stores its data.
- AI features (Pro): when you use summaries, tagging, questions or grouping tabs, the text involved (for tabs, their titles and addresses) is sent to the AI provider set up for them, or to your own provider if you added one. Nothing is sent when you do not use them.
- Notifications: if you turn them on, your browser's push service delivers them.
- Feeds and links: to fetch a page or a feed, FAVORY's servers request it from its site; your identity is not shared with the site.
Your choices
- Export everything as bookmark HTML, OPML or JSON in Settings.
- Delete your account in Settings. Your bookmarks, files and everything else in the account are deleted with it.
- Shared things are public only if you make them so: a public collection or a short link can be opened by anyone with its address, until you make it private again.
